Turning a House into a Home

The V+V team meticulously renovated this 100+ year old Hamilton house to bring in some modern finishes while also respecting and maintaining the classic character of an old home.

The exterior of this home was polished up with some sleek, black paint a newly custom-built staircase, soffit, and fascia.

These classic fluted columns had been caked with layers upon layers of paint over the years. Each column was painstakingly stripped down to the wood and repainted.

A fresh coat of black paint on the frame of this original door accentuates the wood grain, orange brick, and the details of the glass.

These original, coffered ceilings are a staple of the classic four square home. The ceilings needed refinishing due to age, but the wood was left untouched. Once finished, a ceiling medallion was installed to frame the modern chandelier, marrying the old elements and the new.

the heart of the home

The outdated kitchen got a major facelift in this home. The wall between the original kitchen and dining room was taken out, opening up the space and bringing in tonnes of natural light.
